One of the most famous sports events in the world organised in France, is spinning off its little brother; The Tour de Carpe. An initiative inspired by big game fresh water sports fishing and its most famous country to catch world record potential, France. Tour de Carpe has set its goals to become, within the fishing scene, at least as famous as its mature example, loved by fishermen and maybe even by other sports fanatics.
Tournament Schedule

Friday - Monday (June 5 - 8): The first stage (called 'etappe') will be where we ended the TDC2008, Domaine des Iles in the North of France, just 100km. above Paris. We have chosen to visit this venue again because of some recent catches of huge Common carp up to 62 Lbs.
This time we were invited by the owner to fish from the luxoury Main lake Lodge, enabeling us to work on reports and edit film for the vieuwers at home.

The CHALLENGE for this Etappe is: Catch the biggest common

Monday - Friday (June 8 - 12): This second etappe Venue has been chosen for its reputation of also holding fish over the magic 60 lb limit. A beautiful venue called Chapel lake, situated in the center of France not far from Limoges.
This season the best catch was 53 lbs but no 60 was caught yet. Combine this with the fact the fish have been heavily spawning last week and we might conclude we have planned ourselves in 'prime time'. Maybe the 60's are not 60 any more after spawning but we would loe to catch one at 56 or so!

The challenge for our competitors will be to catch the biggest catfish.
The fourth rod may be used to target fish for Cats

Friday - Monday (June 12 - 15): The third one of this event will be organised at Lac de Villedon, 100 acres of beauty and tranquility close to Chapel lake. For we have seen big fish been caught last year but had no descent chance to catch a few ourselves we desided to give it another go.
Many 20K plus fish have been caught this season and therefore we mighjt see Parry break its record again during the TDC?

The challenge for the venue will be to catch a 20K carp, no too difficult for most visitors do so at this lake!?

Monday - Friday (June 15 - 19): Last but not least we will visit a venue of 50 hectares back North again, st Quintin.
For the size of this lake, the fish having spawned allready and therefore could be anywhere, we have booked some pegs in the quiet back part of the lake, but desided to check out where we can find fish and make up our minds where to install.
Domain de la Vallee, or Horselake as Hans Sissingh has called it in 1998 when he discovered it, has not produced any fish over 20K for a while. Because of its beauty and size we have desided however to fish it this last Etappe.

Challenge will be to catch one of the 'long time no see' carp. So one of the many fish that have not been seen for more then one season!

Day: 1 - After a pit stop at Domaine des Iles in the North of France yesterday evening, having found we were not supposed to stay at the main lake lodge, we have stayed over night in a nice hotel called La vielle ferme, just near Paris. Bob, the owner of Chapel lake had called us and invited us to fish both of his lakes if we wanted..so we decided to continue our journey and start fishing straight away at Chapel lake. Parry Vermeulen and Pieter Beelen have just arrived one hour ago and are installing at the swim on the back end of the lake called Donkeys or somethin, Twan and Hans have installed at this point so the four of us will fish almost the whole lake. We will explain more tomorrow. Catfish are showing and carp are jumping so we expect to land some fish tonight. Have some patience and we will get back to you within one day. Twan has decided to use his secret bait; macerol to catch a cat at Chapel Lake. Our nice neighbors Philippe and Corinne who run a leisure and holiday center close to Bobs other lake are very kind to have invited us to use their internet. In exchange we will show you some of their business the following days, good fun, you will probably not believe what they are building here in this middle of nowhere.....Signing off: Hans - www.CarpConnections.com....News Time:10:30 pm (France-time)
Day: 2 - Apparently, most of the fish are on the side of the lake where Hansel and Twan are fishing from, because last night this duo had caught some some action. First, a schubje of 2 pounds and a beautiful mirror of 11.5 pounds. With 71 points, Hans tighten the reins still in hand!...Signing off: Beet - www.Beet.nl....News Time:10:30 pm (France-time)
Day: 3 - Anglers are catching fish now. Where last year during the first stage there were barely any fish caught this year has been a much different story. Peter (with his new call sign Giel!) Beelen made a throw to the yellow by no less than 4 carp sequentially collected, of which the heaviest weighed 12 pounds. If Twans last fish weighed 13.5 pounds, he would be looking at the yellow... Unfortunately, the 12.5 pounds was just not enough, which means that it is super exciting in the Tour de Carpe and any small fish can make a difference today! And also, its here at Lake Chapel that someone caught two 50 lbers in one night ... Oh yes there is a striking trend seen in this contest: In the beginning various types of boilies were tested, but after three days the fish started to show on pole particles ! (Note that particles are prepared only / in closed packaging allowed!)www.CarpConnections.com....www.Beet.nl....News Time:10:30 pm (France-time)
Day: 4 - The youth is the future, which shows once again. Pieter has started now and began to tackle not only small fish regularly, but last night he picked up his first thirty, which also meant TDC record! Again the tiger nuts and again in the middle of the lily leaf caught. At the same time was Twan on the other side of the lake with a run, resulting in an oily mud, yet paaide level of 39 pounds! This means that Pieters TDC record has been only a few minutes and Twan now the record in hand!..www.Beet.nl....News Time:10:30 pm (France-time)
Day: 5 - Up to this point nearly 200 kilograms of carp have been caught ! Twan and Peter have been fighting a bitter battle for the top position. Retaining his lead, Pieter is still winning with a total of 177 points, closely followed by Twan who has 152 points. Tomorrow the anglers will visit the second venue known as Lac de Villedon.
Day: 6 - During a short trip to Chapel Lake 2, Pieter scored again with his HCS boilies weighing a fat 16.8 kg! Then it was quickly pack up and move to the Lac Villedon, where the first night / early morning, all fish caught by ... Peter of course!
Day: 7 - Peter and Hans have steadily been catching fish. Peter is still the stage leader. The weather has been very warm, reaching 32 degrees Celsius!
Day: 8 - Rain rain and more rain ... Just before the last stage, Horse Lake, there was again a heavy thunderstorm resulting in failure to establish the Lac Villedon. The disadvantage was that morning everything had to get wet, but the advantage was that the fish was active! Plenty of fish were caught, mostly by Peter 6 fish to 23 pounds) and Hans 3 fish to 15.4 pounds).
Day: 9 - The Tour de Carpe has started the last leg on Horse Lake, a water full of seaweed, lily fields and thousands of other obstacles such as fallen trees, etc.The first thing you should / can do is search for the gravel ridges. The soil consists mainly of Blubber and leaves, except on the hard gravel ridges.
Day: 10 - The beautiful weather of recent days has given a variety of sun, clouds and occasional rain. Peter went deeper into bay fish, full of dangerous lily fields and fallen trees. Here he wasted a fish, but also knew a beautiful leather-almost 14 pounds to deal with! With a night to go, it seems that Peter the Tour de Carpe with two fingers, ehm boilies in its nose will win, but the battle for the stage win is still in full swing!
